Process of Conservation
ARCA applies the following conservation processes to its collections:
• Diagnostic of the state of each document.
• Separation and fumigation of the documents contaminated by insects and fungus with processes that do not damage the paper.
• Mechanical cleaning with brush and vacuum cleaner of the fumigated documents.
• Constant control of the climate conditions.
• Planning of necessary preventive interventions and restoration of plans giving priority to those used in publications and expositions.
• Inventory of the documents parallel to the cleaning operations.
• Preparation of plans and photographs to be showed according to museological norms.
• Teaching of students from different careers and backgrounds.
• Periodic exposition and publication of reports about the processes completed and the need to preserve the documents of the architecture of Argentina. In 2001 an exposition called " Nuestra Arquitectura en tus manos" (Our Arquitecture in Your Hands) was very well received by the community of architects. The job of ARCA is basically educational, directed to the different levels of teaching. The objective: to teach the public to care for the architectural heritage as part of the national identity.
